Productive Day - Chinese Leg

After Lynn arranged the Zanz flights, we booked the Chinese leg of the tour. We have budget flights (air asia), to take us from Bangkok up into Shenzhen, a city near to Hong Kong. To recap the asia leg of the tour is booked separately to our rtw tour, as we could not include asia with africa. We can't have it all, but we're havin a bloody good go at it! So we figure as we are there, we may as well hang out in Hong Kong for a few days...before we take on the monstrous journey by land through China. This will take us north through Shanghai to Beijing, before heading West to Chengdu, Lhasa and on toward Nepal/India - some 3000-4000km+ I believe. We'll be sorted for special fried rice and spring rolls for a good while anyhow...and when we're done with that, we'll be moving in to lamb bhuna territory :)

A Week of Zanzibar Paradise!

For those who don't know already, our first week is going to be a relaxing chilled out affair on the island of Zanzibar (not the nightclub for all of the teesside crew! ;) It's supposed to be a pure paradise island so we just can't wait...check out the images and link http://www.cristalresort.net/. We decided to sort out the first weeks accomodation fully, so that we can take in the scale of the journey we are about to go on....and also get a bit of a tan so that it's not a case of 'spot the tourists!!' We plan to wing it all the way from there on :)
Lynn has today organised flights to take us from Tanzania straight to Zanzibar...she said the journey is supposed to be a bit hairy!!! A rickety old plane probably flown by a cowboy, but who cares. With 1 year off school/work to come, we'll be in dreamland!!!!
